During the 16th General Assembly of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) in Abidjan, the winners of the 2025 AUB journalism competition were officially announced, recognising excellence in radio and television journalism from across Africa and beyond.
The awards celebrated innovative work in investigation, documentaries, culture, economics, politics and the environment, reflecting the diversity and richness of African media.
Radio: Best Magazine – “Before Time, or Already a Mother”, RTI Côte d’Ivoire. Best Investigation – “Green Hydrogen – Water that Burns”, Algerian Radio. Best Documentary – “Universal Health Coverage”, CRTV North West, Cameroon. Best Cultural Report – “How local languages face a globalised and digital world”, Sputnik Africa.
Television: Best Documentary – “Farhat Hached”, Tunisian Television. Best Investigation – “Innocent – Example of Courage”, Benin TV. Best Magazine – “Dzo Zouk, the village within the city”, CRTV Cameroon. Best Science Report – “Madagascar, island of medicinal and aromatic plants”, TVM Madagascar. Best Economic Report – “The Great Niaya: A Heritage to Preserve”, RTS Senegal. Best Political Report – “Madagascar: Against the Looters, a Radio Warning Farmers and Reducing Attacks”, France 24. Best Environmental Report – “Climate Frontlines: How Kenya Is Being Exploited and Greenwashed”, TRT World.
The competition aims to encourage creativity in African media, promote cultural and information exchange among African countries, and highlight voices that reflect the aspirations of communities.
