Long awaited, the project of news and programmes exchange network of the African Union of Broadcasting takes definitively shape with the M.O.U signed on Monday, October 15, 2018 in Tunis by the Directors General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and of the AUB. The latter will acquire before the end of the year a new content exchange platform. A logical follow up of the meetings of March 2016 in Dakar during which the AUB Director General had been urged to take any action aimed at setting up this long awaited infrastructure. The technical device of this platform will eventually be backed by that of the ASBU a sister union and that of Videoship a partner based in Ottawa, Canada. The African Union of Broadcasting is thus expressing again its commitment in making accessible TV and radio content. Through its content exchange platform, the AUB makes available to its members and partners programmes in areas as diverse as current affairs, TV magazines and sports. This platform offers the advantage of being essentially based on Internet Protocol with the possibility of broadcasting live or using video on demand. Enabling African radio and television channels to access content from around the world has always been a priority for the AUB, the content exchange platform will facilitate the organization’s work in this mission. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) will make available their exchange platform. They can also use that of the AUB. This will help popularize African culture and dispel stereotypes in the treatment of information on the continent; especially as it will show an Africa on the move. The exchange platform provides members and partners of the African Broadcasting Union with access to news content. The model involves the more than fifty newsrooms that make up the AUB. They will feed the platform and make it a news provider that will allow each member and partner to benefit on a daily basis from a continuous flow of audio and video content, news about the continent but also the world. The production of quality TV Shows is a major challenge for African televisions; disparities exist between them given the fact they all don’t have the same financial and technical means. To mitigate these inequalities, the AUB makes available quality regional, pan-African and worldwide shows produced by its members or partners. Sport is an area of growing interest for any television but the difficulties related to rights but also to geographical barriers make it difficult to access this type of content. The content exchange platform aims to make sport information even more accessible. Broadcasting modes are constantly changing and not all african TVs and radios are equipped to deal with this situation. The AUB platform is a mean of reducing the gap. L’Union Africaine de Radiodiffusion (UAR) met en place une plateforme inédite d’échanges de contenus. Elle permettra aux membres et partenaires de l’organisation de jouir de contenus d’actualité ou de magazine diffusable en direct ou en différé. Longtemps attendu, le projet de réseau d’échange de programmes et de news de l’Union Africaine de Radiodiffusion prend définitivement corps avec le protocole d’accord signé le lundi 15 octobre 2018 à Tunis par les Directeurs Généraux de l’Union de Radiodiffusion des États Arabes ASBU et de l’UAR. Au terme de cette entente, l’UAR va se doter avant la fin de l’année d’une plateforme inédite d’échange de contenus. Une suite logique des rencontres de Mars 2016 à Dakar au cours desquelles le Directeur Général de l’UAR avait été exhorté d’entreprendre toute action visant la mise sur pied de cette infrastructure longtemps attendue. Le dispositif technique de cette plateforme sera à terme adossé à ceux de l’ASBU et de Videoship. L’Union Africaine de Radiodiffusion s’engage ainsi un peu plus dans la vulgarisation des contenus. À travers sa plateforme d’échange, elle met à la disposition de ses membres et partenaires des programmes aux natures aussi diverses que variées allant des sujets d’actualité aux magazines sans oublier le sport. Cette plateforme offre l’avantage d’être essentiellement basée sur le protocole IP avec donc la possibilité de diffuser en direct ou d’utiliser la vidéo à la demande. Permettre aux chaînes de radio et télévisions africaines d’accéder aux contenus venant du monde entier a toujours été érigé au rang de priorité par l’UAR. La plateforme d’échange de contenus va davantage faciliter la tâche de l’organisation dans cette mission. Les modes de diffusion changent continuellement et toutes les télévisions et radios africaines ne sont pas forcément outillées pour faire face à cette donne. La plateforme de l’UAR se veut un moyen de nivellement des valeurs à l’échelle africaine.
