Today’s broadcasting environment is marked by intense competition for global audiences. Content is no longer produced only by media organisations: individuals have also become major creators, with vast quantities of new material published every day.
In a world where communication channels have multiplied and virtual platforms have blurred traditional boundaries, one of the greatest challenges is maintaining clear ethical standards. Public-service media therefore carry a particularly important responsibility.
Founded on 1 May 1964, TRT is Türkiye’s public-service broadcaster. Over six decades, it has produced programmes for national and international audiences, introduced innovations to the broadcasting sector and organised initiatives addressing shared human challenges.
Under its vision of “International Impact and Digitalisation”, TRT aims to ensure that valuable content reaches wider audiences in Türkiye and around the world. It approaches new technologies from a human-centred perspective and describes its mission as combining memory and future.
TRT treats radio, television and the internet as distinct environments with specific strategic roles. Its productions seek to give visibility to underrepresented voices, enrich public understanding, promote cultural diversity and place truth and reality at the centre of broadcasting.
With its principle of “Strong Broadcasting, Strong Impact”, TRT says it will continue to raise awareness of global issues and support human-centred public-service broadcasting. It also reaffirmed its commitment to cooperation with the African Union of Broadcasting family.
