The Senegalese, president of the eponymous football federation, held talks with the national and international Media on Saturday, February 6, 2021, to unfold his campaign project in Yaoundé. In 45 minutes, the one who presents himself as the chosen candidate, addressed the public without striking a blow to an assistance of circumstance, with, in the first row, the outgoing president of the African Football Confederation Ahmad Ahmad, his African counterparts and certain African soccer legends. At 55, the native of the Gorée Island, presents himself as a reformer, a federator, a visionary and a builder. Mr. Senghor believes he can reform in priority and in depth the whole legal and decision-making framework of the confederation. He intends to restructure the operating mode of the executive committee, accelerate the process of professionalization of football clubs on a continental scale and promote for the benefit of member associations, in partnership with FIFA, the States and the private sector, a continental infrastructure modernization program. “Our confederation is experiencing structural, governance and organizational difficulties. Whatever projects and programs are developed, if these difficulties are not resolved, we will not get there. Today, the very vocation of CAF is to develop football, to bring it to life in all corners of our continent, and to raise it to its real level. The new president is expected to work on making CAF the future of world football. To this end, we need to increase investments in youth football and women’s football and make it a development drive,’’ he said. On March 12, 2021, the elections will be held in Rabat, Morocco, for members of the CAF executive committee, its representatives on the FIFA council and the president of the continental body for the development of African football.
