The 25th session of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) opened on 16 October 2024 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, as a preparatory meeting for the 25th Conference of Heads of State and Government.
Ministers reviewed expert and specialised committee reports and examined key issues in the regional integration process, including institutional reform, peace and security, financial sustainability, operationalisation of the common market, economic and monetary matters and rationalisation of regional economic communities.
Equatorial Guinea held the rotating presidency of ECCAS at the time. The organisation brings together eleven Central African member states and represents a large regional market with significant potential in mining, agriculture, fisheries, tourism and transport.
