The China-Africa Online Media Dialogue, co-hosted by the National Radio and Television Administration of China and the African Broadcasting Union, was successfully held on October 28. Meng Dong, Vice Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration of China, Amos Malupenga, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services of Zambia, Maureen Mbaka, Chief Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation & Youth Affairs of Kenya, and Gregoire Ndjaka, Chief Executive Officer of the African Broadcasting Union attended the meeting and delivered speeches. In her speech, Meng Dong thanked the African people for their help during the pandemic, and reviewed the history of the friendship and cooperation of Chinese and African media. She suggested that in the post-pandemic era, Chinese and African media should stick to the principle of “Consultation, Contribution and Shared Benefits” and deepen cooperation in news reporting, content and media projects, facing risks and challenges together and forging a stronger community of shared future. 17 representatives from government departments, media, enterprises and research organizations including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, China Media Group, Communication University of China, StarTimes Corporation, Alibaba Digital Media and Entertainment Group, Broadcasting Agency of Rwanda, South Africa Broadcasting Corporation and Kana TV, Ethiopia discussed the theme of “China-Africa Media Cooperation in the Post-Pandemic Era”. The delegates reviewed the significant development of China-Africa media cooperation since the establishment of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation 20 years ago, and affirmed the positive role media plays in promoting exchanges in various fields and people-to-people communications, especially in responding to the major global public health challenge – the COVID-19 pandemic, in which media plays an indispensable role. All delegates unanimously called for the Chinese and African media to further strengthen cooperation, oppose politicization and stigmatization of COVID-19, and resist false information. They stand firm for equity and justice in the world and aim to tell stories to the world about jointly fighting the epidemic, so as to help restart the economic and social development in developing countries in the post-pandemic era, deepen China-Africa practical cooperation in various fields, and build a stronger China-Africa community with a shared future. #Anglais
