Radiodiffusion Télévision Ivoirienne (RTI), Côte d’Ivoire’s public media group and an active member of the African Union of Broadcasting, welcomed delegates attending AUB’s 16th General Assembly in Abidjan.
Under the guidance of Director General Jean-Martial Adou, media executives, programme directors, journalists and technicians from Africa and partner countries toured RTI’s facilities, including television studios, recording spaces and the data centre. The visit offered delegates an opportunity to experience the broadcaster’s daily operations and strengthen professional ties.
RTI was created on 26 October 1962 under President Félix Houphouët-Boigny as a development tool serving the population. It later expanded its radio and television infrastructure, introduced colour television in 1973 and progressively extended national coverage.
The broadcaster also demonstrated resilience through Côte d’Ivoire’s political crises. Today RTI operates three television channels, three radio stations and a strong digital presence across websites, mobile applications and social media. Its activities include broadcasting, audiovisual production, content distribution and commercialisation, as well as the development of new media formats.
