Algiers has hosted since 27 April 2025 the annual meeting of radio and television coordinators and engineers of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU). The meeting aims to strengthen the circulation of audiovisual content in an increasingly competitive global media environment.

During the television coordinators’ session, ASBU reviewed information, sports and programme exchanges among members and highlighted cooperation with partner organisations and sister unions.

The participation of AUB Content Exchange Centre Director Karima Chelbi from the opening session demonstrated AUB’s commitment to strengthening links between regional broadcasting unions. AUBVISION and ASBUCLOUD already support a regular flow of news content between Africa and the Arab world.

The opening ceremony was attended by Algeria’s Minister of Communication Mohamed Mziane, ASBU Director General Abd Rahim Suleiman, Algerian Radio Director General Adel Slakdji and TDA Director General Rachid Bestam.

Participants stressed the need for broadcasters to increase and streamline content exchange in order to respond to growing competition and better promote regional productions.
