A delegation of the African Union Peace and Security Council travelled to New York for working sessions with the UN Security Council Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa.
The agenda included peace and security developments in Sudan, the Red Sea, the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region, as well as preparations for joint consultations between the AU Peace and Security Council and the UN Security Council.
Discussions also covered implementation of previous joint commitments, peace-support transitions in Africa and implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2719 on financing African-led peace-support operations.
The programme included consultations on youth, women, peace and security, children affected by armed conflict and the impact of climate change on stability and development in Africa.
