Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) reaffirmed its commitment to revitalising cooperation with the African Union of Broadcasting, strengthening its role as a founding member of the Union.

A high-level GRTS delegation led by Board Chairman Charles Camara visited AUB headquarters in Dakar and announced the broadcaster’s intention to host the AUB General Assembly in 2026.

Camara said the initiative reflects the Gambia’s determination to play a more active role in African broadcasting and to benefit from AUB capacity-building programmes.

AUB Director General Grégoire Ndjaka welcomed the renewed engagement and pledged the Union’s support for a successful General Assembly. He also highlighted training opportunities for Gambian journalists and encouraged GRTS to make full use of AUBVision for real-time African news and content exchange.

The Gambian delegation included senior officials from the Ministry of Communication, the GRTS Director General and other executives, reflecting the country’s commitment to deeper cooperation with AUB.
