African Union of Broadcasting Director General Grégoire Ndjaka told the Türkiye–Africa Media Forum that Africa and Türkiye share a history of resilience, ambition and determination to shape their own narratives.

He highlighted Türkiye’s engagement with Africa and cited its role in negotiations around grain supplies during the Russia–Ukraine crisis as an example of cooperation with direct impact on African countries.

Ndjaka stressed that media play a decisive role in shaping perceptions, informing societies and protecting cultural heritage. He praised the operational standards and international reach of Türkiye’s public broadcaster TRT and said cooperation with TRT can support African media through training, technology and expertise sharing.

He also welcomed TRT Afrika as an initiative helping to reduce information gaps and present African stories from African perspectives.

The AUB Director General said stronger cooperation is needed in knowledge exchange, mentoring and technology. He highlighted AUB’s Training Centre in Dakar and the Content Exchange Centre in Algeria as key institutions for strengthening African journalists and improving the circulation of African news, documentaries and programmes.
